What’s your favorite game (card, board, video, etc.)? Why?
Childhood games weren’t just games; they were exercises for children’s brains, their eyes (for aiming), and their legs, promoting agility. But nowadays, lazy mobiles have kept kids away from fresh air outside, and friendships have become limited to mobile phones.

When it was time to roll the die,
The race would become very interesting.
“Oh, I’m not out yet, it’s my turn!”
The mind would say this to the tongue.
More than mobile phones, it was about moving with our hands,
And a little cheating, I don’t know when it would happen!
When it was the turn of the black and white boxes,
The king was protected from all sides.
When it was time to move straight, crooked, and in L-shapes (two-and-a-half steps),
More than mobiles, we were truly with our loved ones.
When it was carrom’s turn,
Everyone wanted to win the queen.
More than the black and yellow, we’d chase after the pink one,
When we took its cover along with it.
The magic of hands and the powder, when it landed more on the board than on the body.
If we talk about favorite games, I remember my childhood.
Even today if I want to play, I can play those same games, be they indoor or outdoor.
When Carrom, Ludo, and Chess, my brother and I used to play,
And sometimes we would play with our elders.
Outdoor games: Kho-Kho, and drawing boxes with chalk to play with a small stone.
And building a stack of stones one on top of the other, then knocking them down with a ball and building them again.
Like this, along with leg exercises, we used to race.
We used to make paper slips for Raja Rani Chor Sipahi (King, Queen, Thief, Soldier).
We’d toss 5 small marbles up and catch them in our hands.
Many such games, which are more a treasure of our childhood than of today’s childhood.
